Acora Foundation: Pacific Islanders
UI / UX
Objective
Co-collaborating with the Arcora Foundation we launched a campaign to reduce sugary drink consumption among Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians in Washington State, particularly in King and Pierce Counties. With higher risks of diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay in these communities, the campaign aimed to promote healthier beverage choices by encouraging water consumption.
Process
As the Graphic Designer and UI/UX Designer, I was responsible for crafting a comprehensive visual and interactive experience. I began by developing a style guide that set the tone for the campaign's aesthetic, ensuring consistency across all media. This guide included culturally resonant colors, typography, and imagery to effectively connect with Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians.
Approach
The key to the design approach was creating culturally relevant visuals that resonated with the target audience. The style guide emphasized vibrant colors and relatable imagery that conveyed the importance of community health. The digital and print materials were designed to be approachable and easy to understand, ensuring the message was accessible to all ages.
Outcome
The cohesive visual identity across all materials helped amplify the campaign's reach and engagement in the Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian communities. By pairing research-driven insights with culturally aware design, the campaign effectively conveyed the importance of reducing sugary drink consumption and promoted water as a healthier choice.
