Call988: Behavioral Health System Baltimore

UI / UX | Digital / Print Collateral

Objective

The mission of this project was to design a website that would serve as a centralized hub for emotional and mental health support, specifically targeting residents of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, and Carroll County. The objective was to make mental health resources easily accessible and user-friendly, ensuring that community members could connect with the support they needed with minimal barriers.

Goal

One goal of this project was to create a visually engaging and interactive section on a website aimed at helping users identify their emotions and access immediate coping tips. The challenge was to visualize emotions in a way that users, particularly those in need of emotional support, could easily understand and connect with.

Approach

I focused on crafting a visual system that represented a range of emotions—from anxiety and sadness to hope and happiness—using color, icons, and motion. My primary goal was to ensure users could intuitively recognize their feelings and engage with the interface effortlessly.

To enhance usability, I designed an interactive section where users could click on the emotion they were experiencing. Each emotion was visually distinct, allowing for easy identification. Once selected, users were directed to a page with personalized coping tips, displayed in a clear and supportive format.

In addition to the website, I designed a range of supplementary materials to increase community engagement:

  • Social Media Graphics: A series of posts promoting mental health awareness and directing users to the website.

  • Print Materials: Flyers, posters, and brochures were distributed throughout the community to raise awareness and provide information on accessing mental health services.

  • GIFs/MP4s: Animated content that was shared across digital platforms to engage a broader audience and emphasize mental health topics in a dynamic way.

Results

The project successfully increased accessibility to mental health resources within the targeted counties, fostering a supportive digital environment. The website's intuitive design and interactive elements made it easier for residents to seek help, while the cohesive visual identity across social media, print, and digital content extended the project's reach and impact within the community.
